Please provide your IBC log file (the TWS logs are of very little use, and the line you quote is perfectly normal).
So attach the IBC log to your reply (don't quote it inline), so I can see what's going on.

I have been having better luck in the past few hours, so now I don't know if this was an IBC issue after all.
Now I'm having no problems with either 3.8.4 beta2 or beta 3 (which I stumbled on after I posted).
I wonder if this really was an issue on IBKR's side where some of their applications were up/down today because of patching.
Unfortunately, I didn't save the log files for when TWS hangs (I'll do that for the next failure). I attached some recent ones but those were successful.

Ok, yes, everything looks ok in these log files. A temporary weekend problem at IB may well be the reason.
But if it happens again, please do send the files.
TWS launches fine on a fresh Windows reboot. However after closing TWS, only maybe 1 out of 4 subsequent attempts to open it will succeed. TWS hangs at the dialog box, or the dialog box never appears, and TWS has 0% CPU utilization. I have to close it by closing the IBC window because TWS is unresponsive. I'm using IBC 3.8.4 and TWS 978.2k. AcceptNonBrokerageAccountWarning=yes.
Gateway works fine for both paper and live accounts. TWS works fine with the live account. This problem is limited to the paper trading account.
I don't know if this will help, but the last line of the launcher log is: 2021-01-09 11:45:25.594 [PM] INFO [JTS-PostAuthenticateS2-20] - Switching to a new encrypted log...
Previously I was using 3.7.5 and 972 with no problems at all for several years.
Any ideas for how to fix this?
