Through my profile page, the user should be able to modify:

Email address - verification should be needed
Age - better to ask for the year of birth
Sex - include other
Username
To receive notifications

at this time, in register time, the gender needs to be answered forcefully. but it has not been mandatory always. so, we would suggest that gender of users already in database, if null, be converted to "not stated" or similar and adding the very same option to the register formulary.
