I'd be interested in seeing something like this as well. I use the Infinality 
patches on my Linux machine, and it outdoes any other font rendering I've seen. 
Ideally, the local.conf and infinality-settings files would be interchangeable 
across operating systems.

Seconded here! It's possible the patches could be applied to the version of 
FreeType used in the gdipp source code but I'm not sure whether it would work 
or if the environment variable settings would work.  It definitely looks great 
on my Linux machine though!

infinality on Ubuntu.
