Given the image already has nvidia closed source drivers includes (tainted) please could you eable the support of 30x and 40x series cards connect via egu thunderbolt interface?
the egpu enclosure works fine
even the nvidia audio driver is loaded
just no nvidia gpu modules loaded in lsmod that i can see

NVIDIA-SMI has failed because it couldn't communicate with the NVIDIA driver. Make sure that the latest NVIDIA driver is installed and running.
