You can use the setDate or set the value of the input.

I understand that, but if the initial date is a few months or days old the user 
has to do more scrolling.  A Now button would bring them current with one 
press.  Many date pickers offer this feature.

Added in 2.1 (see 'showNow' and 'nowText' options of the datetime preset)
