Hi @pfaffenrodt,

Thank you for your pull request. Unfortunately I'm not able to merge it right now as the current version of mask_export is still compatible with TYPO3 7.6 and the new file extension is available with TYPO3 8.7 and later.

I will consider the change of the TypoScript file extension as well as the basic file structure in an overall update of mask_export. This version will drop TYPO3 7.6 support than.

Why still supporting 7.6 it is no longer a lts version.

Simply because constraints contain the version currently and there was no time (and no reason) to change that ;-)
