I think to make the whole gameification thing work, it's really important to make it look like as the user is doing something completely different, so that the labeling is just a nice thing that happens while he is having fun and doing his thing. But yeah...that for sure sounds easier at it is :D
another easy mode for users to contribute, have a list of adjectives, e.g. "old/new", "clean/dirty", "busy", "cluttered/tidy", "safe/dangerous", etc
show 2 random images, and the user specifies which of the two images is 'more clean', 'more busy' etc
