Show scroll velocity indicator while prompting #118

It would be helpful to see the scroll speed somewhere on-screen during Prompt mode.
Also, I second the request to Prompt from the current spot in the text editor. I would be very helpful during script rehearsals/edits.

Hi @Dietrich503,

Imaginary Teleprompter is in maintenance mode. That is, I'm no longer adding new features to Imaginary Teleprompter, tho I welcome them if somebody else contributes them.

I've moved on to focus my time on another free software teleprompter app called QPrompt. That one already has the features that you're asking for, so you might find it better for you.

I will leave this issue open in case somebody wants to contribute this feature.

Best regards, Javier

Javier, Thanks for the reply. I just tried QPrompt, and, as you said, it has the features I was asking for. I think I will be sticking with Imaginary Prompter for this project, because QPrompt put extra returns between every couple of lines. Also, I miss the feature of having the spacebar be start/pause (though it starts the first time), and also the feature that strips all formatting from the script. Thanks for all your work that you have done on these projects. Rick Seaman

Hi Rick,

I'm very happy to hear that you tried QPrompt.

The feature that strips all formatting from the script is already present. To paste without formatting you must type Ctrl-Shift-V (on PC) or Command-Shift-V (on Mac). Thanks for helping me realize that I need to add a button people can press.

Unlike in Imaginary Teleprompter, the space bar is mapped to stop by default instead of pausing. QPrompt allows you to change the mapping of most keys by going to Main Menu > Control Settings > Keyboard Inputs. For a future version, I plan on adding a prompt that asks the user for their preference the first time that the app is started.

As for the extra returns, QPrompt might be misinterpreting the formatting. See if using paste without formatting resolves your issue, if it doesn't then this might be a bug. If that's the case, I will ask that you to send me some material to help me identify the cause.

Thank you for writing and best of luck with your project!

Best regards, Javier

Thanks for the tip! I now have the spacebar doing Run/Pause and made the S key Stop.

Also, it was a formatting problem. I had loaded an html file that had formatting. I just saved the script as plain text and problem solved. Thanks. Rick
