Title: Evaluate Pulumi by developing a POC

Description Scope: Pair with TL (@shakeel Bhamani ) to evaluate Pulumi for building infrastructure as code (IaC) and develop a proof-of-concept (PoC) simple web application with a self-service UI.

Tasks:

• Research and Setup:
  • Understand Pulumi’s capabilities and best practices for IaC.
  • Set up a Pulumi environment and necessary accounts (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
• Develop the Backend:
  • Use Pulumi to define and provision cloud resources (servers, databases, etc.).
  • Create RESTful APIs using a suitable backend framework.
• Develop the Frontend:
  • Build a simple web UI to interact with the backend.
  • Implement forms and views for self-service operations (e.g., starting/stopping services, viewing logs).
• Integration and Testing:
  • Connect the frontend with the backend APIs.
  • Test the end-to-end functionality to ensure the web app works as expected.

Tech stack:

• TypeScript (or just JavaScript)
• React
• Node
• PostgreSQL (any relational database experience)
• Circle CI
• AWS (nice-to-have)

Skills:

• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).

Description Scope: Pair with TL (@shakeel Bhamani ) to evaluate the suitability of NoSQL databases for the system, identifying benefits and potential drawbacks and develop a POC implementation.

Tasks:

• Research and Setup:
  • Understand different NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, DynamoDB) and their use cases.
  • Identify key areas in the system where NoSQL might be advantageous.
• POC Development:
  • Select a NoSQL database for the POC.
  • Migrate a part of the system or a specific module to use the NoSQL database.
  • Develop APIs to interact with the NoSQL database.
• Performance and Scalability Testing:
  • Load test the NoSQL implementation.
  • Compare performance metrics with the existing relational database setup.
• Integration and Usability Testing:
  • Ensure seamless integration with existing system components.
  • Test data consistency, reliability, and query performance.
