1 year ago We should check with the comms team at Imperial what is the minimal branding and appearance tweaking they will be happy with in order to consider this an Imperial service. They might also have something to say in terms of accessibility standards.
At present, we lack sufficient detail to proceed with this. This umbrella issue is a location for relevant information and discussion on how to proceed.
The main information we need here is the extent of the customisation that is desired. Some limited customisation has been carried out for the Helmholtz RSD. This seems to consist primarily of a custom home page as well as simple modifications to the theme e.g. colours. It is worth noting that the customised home page has been implemented via a bit of a fudge rather than any dedicated mechanism for customisation (e.g. over-ridable templates).
Depending on the degree of customisation required, and in discussion with the RSD developers, we may want to stick with the above described approach or investigate/implement more general mechanisms for customisation (if this were a Django app for instance we'd use the Django templating engine to allow updates/overrides of page templates).
