On first transmisison after device creation, a whole bunch of pointless messages are sent down. #117

Problem is solved after one reset of tracker. Then normal transmissions resume.

Another run, with router on the whole time. It does not seem to recover except through a reset; Neither is the 5s delay saved.

Looking closely at the first tranmissions, it looks like the rx1 delay does change to 5 seconds.

It looks like when the mac commands are received, the tracker goes into this wierd sequence. Check what the mac commands do.

Notice the frozen end. Note that no further transmissions arrived. Could it be a memory issue? This issue is only seen in June 2021, but not in may 2021. Could it be a server side change that throws everything off?

Wow, sometimes, a hardfault is generated at the freeze point. The problem is it is intermittent. image

Last thing printed is:

I suspect EventInfoStatusStrings does not have a particular params->Status, so it crashes. Could it be a EventInfoStatus unique to The Things Stack only?

The issue with freezing seems to go away when using serial baud rate of 2 Mbaud. Could be related? Maybe the developers did not test on the keil version of printf.

Lots of MLME_SCHEDULE_UPLINK are being sent. It is expecting an ack from server side, but server side does not supply it.

Two solutions according to the previous comment:

  1. Queue a downlink everyday after reset.
  2. Disable OnTxNextPacketTimerEvent(...)

Trouble is I cannot find out where OnTxNextPacketTimerEvent(..) is defined. It seem to have been removed.

It looks like sticky commands require a downlink from server to test things out:

Working strategy: Disable all instances of LoRaMacHandleScheduleUplinkEvent( ). This is the function that dows the uplink with no payload. Making IsSticky(...) return all false is not a complete solution because it only schedules the second and beyond transmission. But the first tx after startup will have this useless message.

Now I need to see if I am breaking lorawan rules. I could enable the first useless tx after boot to remain compliant, as a compromise, but not repeat forever.
