Origin of this Organization

Where did this idea/problem come from

This project/product originates from my quantity of information such as videos, news, articles, and ideas that come out everywhere. Some of them have attractive titles, they may be valuable while some others are trash. Still, among those valuable information, I got to spend plenty of time reading, taking notes, organizing... Not finished yet, I have to make sure I can make full use of them one day in the future... It's a hard, tedious procedure to obtain, filter, dig, and use continuously increasing information.

I've tried Omnivore, Readwise, etc. No one can satisfy all my requirements:

1. automatically obtain information from sources
2. these sources vary from web pages, video platforms, podcasts, and email(newsletter) to private knowledge communities (DeDao App, WeChat Official Account, WeChat Subscriptions) ... etc.
3. assist me screen(toss, skim) valuable information
4. assist me read them more efficient
   • saving time, better understanding
   • taking notes, extracting knowledge
5. allow me to easily take notes and connect them
   • to make knowledge grow

Furthermore, I hope it can archive these so that information can be put into production, creation

1. store information, and knowledge in one place
2. search, find them when I need it
   • working on sth. that needs guidance
   • need an inspiration
   • working on sth. that a tool or technique can help it better, faster
   • working on sth. that needs reports, news, and proof, such as making decisions
   • writing that needs some words, sentences, stories
3. let knowledge grow in my mind and finally form wisdom
4. export to give a presentation or publishing

My Solution

After a long research, try... I thought a reader + note-taking app could solve this. However, this system working wasn't going my way:

• only articles can be read in one place. video, audio, etc. are not supported
• no one can assist me screen or read them, there is so much information
• I can't/hardly find what I want when I need them

So I have an idea to develop a software to solve this on my own. Furthermore, considering these problems are general, I decided to make it a product. One step more, a product requires continuous development and a compatible ecosystem. That's why I am here to create an organization on GitHub——the most popular open-source platform today to build a product and community.

Based on the above, what're our missions or goals?

Final Mission

In conclusion, we see three two problems that everyone needs a solution:

Process all information in one place

1. support gathering information/data from various information sources
2. screen information efficiently
3. read information efficiently
4. manage(store, view, search) information and knowledge in one place

Applying information and knowledge into production

1. hunting opportunity: only opportunity leads to archivement
2. making decision: do right things
3. allotting resource: be able to do things
4. executing: do things right

Available anytime anywhere

1. multi-device sync

These three main topic are the highest/final initiative of our organization, in a word: Solve series of problems on the path from information to creation

Fully Controllable

All data and software behaviour should be under your own control. That means Data Encryption, Self-Hosted and Open Source.

Prosper Ecosystem

Not only code should be open, they ecosystem should be open too. It may means:

1. Plugins: easy way for feature extension
2. Publicity

Open Source

This does a huge concept, now we list a few:

1. open code
2. open collaboration
3. open discussion
4. sustainable open source

Community Maintenance

We should build a community to take the responsibility of developing this organization. This community belongs to users, rather than those who invested it.
