Suggestion - Potential ideas for new Nos script #2851

Assurance

I have read the README.md

Summary

I just have some ideas if there is a new script for Nos.

Process: I actually don't mind the current crafting system. I like the slightly obscure multi-step process, it keeps it controllable and a little bit more secret for rp purposes. Crafting multiple parts of the bottle around the map works well in my opinion. One thing that could be improved is to make the crafting spots a little less open. Some of the current spots are active with players or used for other purposes already.

Materials: I think using basic materials is fine, the current nos recipe is fine but maybe slightly less rubber usage. I suppose I wouldn't mind some original items, but it still works because you make the multiple parts to the bottle, then combine it all.

Usage: Using Nos should have some level of risk / reward, but the current system is far too punishing. Currently, using nos will damage your engine no matter what, but its even more damage if your temperatures are higher. So this means you have to micromanage engine temps, which can be difficult because it really only cools down effectively on a straight going 100+ mph, meaning fast cornering (typically when you would use Nos) does not lower temps. Not to mention, you do all of this micromanaging while in a police chase and trying to drive clean. Generally it's just not worth it and I know that from experience because of the lack of customers and interest. My Suggestion: I genuinely don't think engine damage is a good skill curve for nos, and it should be removed entirely. BUT here's my suggestion to replace that: The effectiveness of nos's speed boost should be dependent on your engine temperature. For example, if you are over 90 degrees, nos is maybe at 25% effectiveness and burns away faster. Then it gradually increases in power as you lower your temps, maybe hitting 100% at 70 degrees or lower. Nos should also last a bit longer. If you are extremely stingy you can probably make it last two races but typically only one race. It should be a bit more generous, especially if customer pricing is around the same at $1500ish a bottle. That will also give it a little more utility in a job chase instead of running out in the first few minutes.

General Balancing: The current nos has a triangle of balancing. It's currently a bit too long of a process to craft, a bit too expensive to purchase as a customer, and a bit too risky to use. For example: you can keep the long process to craft, but the prices and risk needs to be lowered. Or if it's going to be so risky and damaging to use, you need to make it cheap and easy to craft. But currently it's just a bit unbalanced everywhere. For police chase balancing, maybe if you see someone hitting nos you can put another speed unit on chase, something along those lines. But honestly I feel like things will still be mostly balanced even with nos usage, cop cars these days are very solid. But not every bank job or police chase will involve nos, it'll be slightly niche. Most likely nos alone will not get a mid range driver out of a chase.

Side notes: I'd recommend making the final crafting spot somewhere a bit more unique. Maybe pacific bluffs garage or something out of the way. Also, filling nos bottles should not be locked to a profession. It should just be part of the crafting process or held down by a single group. PLS let us put a bottle in our trunk, and garage it with whatever is left in bottle for later. Massive QoL and usability increase.

Reason

Genuinely the biggest reason is for RP purposes for our group TKY. Nos is already in the city but its been completely broken for months, and was never particularly effective to begin with. I really want this for our group and for the city in general . It's the perfect process for a racing group and adds a lot of fun to the racing scene and job chases. Cops have more reason to use their better cars and put extra charges on crims. W for everyone hurray.

I really like the idea of storing car and not losing the bottle :D I found that out the hard way lol
