This is probably by design to make macros as generic as possible, so they could be reused for different objects.
Though if you do want to hardcode some object selection, you can select object with a specific name using "Select Pattern", this will make an operator call and therefore it will be possible to add it to action recorder.
It seems the recorder has no input value for when I select an object - for instance, I need to record a chain of events relating to selecting a specific object\bone snapping the 3D cursor to that object - then, selecting another object\bone and snapping the selection to the 3D cursor in that sequential order.
