All titles/labels read aloud when finger is within text box
Blue bars – 5Hz Vibration
Orange bars – 20 Hz Vibration
Y Grid Lines voice out number upon passing (e.g. finger passes the 10 line, and it says “10”)
Tops of all bars – single tone “ding”
Upon first entrance or leaving and then returning into bar, voice “Category, X-Label, Y-Value” – for example, “finger moves into the Wednesday orange bar at 33, tablet would say “2015, Wednesday, 33”; As long as user stays in that bar, the audio is not repeated;
Staying in position for 2 seconds (“hovering”) at any time in bar will read aloud the “Category, X-Label, Y-Value” info
Line Graph – Monthly Rainfall in Chestnut City
All titles/labels read aloud when finger is within text box
Blue Line vibrates 5Hz
Points make a single tone “ding”
Hovering on any point on line for 2 seconds reads aloud the X, Y coordinate pair
All y grid lines read aloud value when crossed (e.g. finger crosses y=2 line, tablet voices “2”)
Trapezoid
Perimeter of shape (black line) vibrates at 5Hz
All angles denoted with bright green – single tone “ding”
Hovering for 2 sec on any angle reads aloud angle name and value (e.g. Y, 90 degrees)
Hover for 2 sec on any line reads aloud the length of the line (e.g. 23 cm)
Anytime the finger is inside of the shape, there is a “clicking” noise (similar to the clicking used on iPhones) to denote that this is “white space” but meaningful white space, as opposed to the white space on the outside of the shape
Number Line
Black horizontal line vibrates 5 Hz
When short black tick marks are crossed, corresponding values are read aloud (e.g. 1, 2, 3)
T Intersection
Roads vibrate 5 Hz
Black Squares/Boundaries – single tone “ding”
Plant Cell
Cell Wall vibrate 5 hz
Voice name of cell part (e.g. “Cytoplasm” or endoplasmic reticulum) upon first entrance or upon leaving and returning (but not repeatedly if just exploring within the same part)
With this one (for engagement), I’d likely add a 10Hz vibration to the large blue structure, and a 20Hz vibration to the purple structure for distinction as those represent the two biggest
Map of Netherlands
Area of the countries in vibrations (Germany 5Hz, Belgium 10 Hz), France 20 Hz, United Kingdom 2 Hz, Netherlands constant (just “on” which will be usually around 200 Hz as that’s the operating freq of most motors)
All cities in Netherlands voiced when finger crosses on/near them (we usually do a minimum 5mm diameter for points)
“Clicking” sound on the North Sea
Compass: Voice “Compass, with N pointing up, East point right, south pointing down, and west point left”
All Graphics
For all of these graphics, I’d employ that a “double tap” on screen anywhere, anytime, prompts a voice description of the graphic which can be ended at any time with a ping gesture
