The error rate (failed checksums) between the PRi and the board is a bit high. Consider using an existing messaging protocol, like CmdMessenger or equivalent.

After offline discussion with @timsp, we think the footprint may not worth the implementation. However sanity-checks should be added on the RPi side to ensure messaging integrity
