Account Creation with User Role as None #56

Activation process not working, and the user can not see Groups.

This has happened with a few sign-ups over the last several days.

New members who have just signed up for an account on the IW site do not see "Groups" in the top nav.

Current Behavior

  1. Create account as a new user on IW site

  2. Receive confirmation email in inbox

  3. Click on the confirmation link

  4. View a message that says "there is no need to confirm at this time as you are a"

  5. User can see "login" link and login with username and pw, but then "Groups" does not appear. screen shot 2017-05-27 at 5 56 11 pm

Expected behavior:

  1. After confirming, the user logs in and sees "Groups" in the top nav
  2. User can then see the "My Groups" page where they have the option to click the "Join Group" button where they can specify that they already below to a group or they need help finding a group.

I added logging so that we can track what's going on, but it hasn't happened since. I will keep an eye on this until it happens again

It did seem to stop for a while, but then started again last night with this user Chollander13@gmail.com at this timestamp: 04 Jun 2017 22:28

Since that time, 6 entries have now gone in as None | Unverified.

Prior to that, it did appear fixed.

From this time 31 May 2017 03:14 to this time 02 Jun 2017 16:44 it was working fine - 6 users in a row logged in, were able to verify, and look fine.

It appears that something changed in between.

BTW, I did adjust one member who is a Group Leader waiting to get on -- and I see that now I am able to make someone a Group Leader and they remain a Subscriber (!). That looks good.

And I do see that in that interim period, there was one user who created an account and it did work - benjamim.gross@verizon.net, but then you'll see there are a few after that came in with Subscriber | None.
