User can not be added as Group Leader to Topic Group #64

Despite multiple attempts, I have not been able to add this user as a Group Leader - lisalynh@gmail.com

There is technically nothing different from her account than others that I have been able to add as Topic Group Leaders.

Is the account and/or group corrupt?

@imlindaryan -- Just so you know, I'm escalating the issue with Lisa Hanson not being able to be added as Group Leader for the Immigration group. She sent this to IW Groups.

@howardstevens -- This may be a separate issue, but it seems related to what I originally posted.

Is it possible that the procedure that we used to follow for assigning Group Leaders has gotten affected by other development. In the past, I was able to save users as Group Leaders as part of the Group record Group Management >> Local Group >> pick the group >> Edit >> add user with Site Role= "Group Leader - Primary (Geo)", Community Role = "Group Leader".

I used to be able to save these folks as Group Leaders, and while I most often can add them, they do not get saved on the Group record. Please note that the ability to add them is not consistent, while I no longer seem to be able to save them to the record.

I can, however, go to the User record, and see the values I expect on their User Record.

Possible, but I haven't touched that code on production in a while. I do believe I fixed the user registration issue. I have been working on a admin function to assign Group Leaders (so that we can eliminate the need to do so through the admin interface). I don't know why there is any new issue, but I am remaining focused on implementing the front-end solution.

This code is now functional to promote local group members to leaders (and demote local group leaders), plus promote topic group members to topic group leaders. (There is a bug related to demoting topic group leaders, but that shouldn't stop using this to create group leaders. Note, that the user needs to be a member of the group to be promoted.

To become a group leader for an immigration group, you should first familiarize yourself with the specific responsibilities and expectations of the role. This typically involves organizing meetings, guiding group discussions, managing activities, and possibly liaising with other organizations or authorities. Next, gain relevant experience or knowledge about immigration issues, which could involve volunteering with related organizations, participating in community events, or educating yourself about immigration laws and policies. Building a network with individuals and organizations in the field can also be beneficial. Once you feel prepared, express your interest in becoming a group leader to the current leadership or the organizing body of the group. Be ready to demonstrate your commitment, skills, and understanding of immigration matters. Sometimes, you might need to be elected or selected by the group members, so being an active and recognized member of the group can be advantageous.
