Also, it's worth mentioning that webextensions are explicitly NOT planned to be implemented (at least currently), as stated by the author.
Just to note that I'm also available by email if this is of interest; feel free to drop me a message at the address in my GitHub profile. If you've any questions about anything too, please do let me know.
This is just to note that, due to Mozilla confirming they will remove XUL add-ons from AMO soon, we will be removing support for AMO on May 8, 2018 (2018-05-08). At this time, although Pale Moon users will be able to install this still from AMO (if it is still there), it would not receive automatic updates.
The solution to this is to either host on our site, or self-host (i.e. provide a valid updateURL
in install.rdf
).
Please let me know if either of these are of interest.
Just as an FYI: We now have a self-service panel, over here: https://addons.palemoon.org/panel. With this you can upload add-ons for Pale Moon, Basilisk and/or Interlink (the latter two use the Firefox and Thunderbird GUIDs respectively). If ever it's of interest, uploading an add-on to the panel will make it show on whichever add-ons site it's relevant for. All of these applications only support XUL extensions, not WebExtensions.
Apologies for the noise in any case.
Oh, yes, may be it's time to migrate...
And how will be handled updateURL? Like on AMO (not allowed) or something else?
updateURL
is strictly not permitted and must be removed before submission.
I would hate to see this excellent extension go away because of changes at Firefox. Although Firefox is doing away with XUL/XPCOM and bootstrap extensions, Pale Moon is not! Pale Moon is a fork of Firefox with significant differences, including the commitment to "legacy" add-ons. I would love to see this wonderful add-on at the Pale Moon Add-ons Site. If you are interested, then contact Lootyhoof or FranklinDM at the Pale Moon Forum (use the private message function). You may want to read this information about submission, too.
