Has Mozilla given any attention to this so the devs can have the necessary tools?

Unfortunately no, still no API, see https://github.com/Infocatcher/Private_Tab_WE#issues

I've seen some people using Temporary Container as an alternative. If you know how it works, I have the "Deletes History Temporary Containers" advanced settings on, but it doensn't seen to work. Maybe you could help me?
