Added HTTP request to verify contributor call #114

Added a check utilizing HTTP GET request to verify Github JSON is reachable, and allowing continuation if it isn't, & moved version number up accordingly

The need for this change is apparent by Github's recent downtime. Had the free time and ability to fix, please confirm proper functionality, I did a Gradle build and it ran fine, but want to confirm.
