Assignment 3 - number of factors #153

Hi all - how many factors did you end up using for assignment 3 and what was the process?

We have been using factors with Eigen values above one which gets us to 5. We have also done a bit of an iterative process here, starting with a higher number, taking the best eigen values and then running again. Is this best practice?

Would appreciate the opportunity to discuss methodology here

cheers, Sam

Hello Sam,

We chose 6 factors, because when choosing only 5 it was not intuitive how the different factors compressed the questions. Many factors were overlapping.

Cheers,

Sara

Awesome thanks Sara. I may try and find you today to discuss further if that’s ok?

I have a related question - did you guys check for the eigen values for the other factors, besides from question 1 to 29

Hi, we also chose 6 factors for the same reasons as Sara`s group and we looked at eigenvalues of the first 29 questions when we were choosing the number of factors.
