Increase test coverage

Test coverage for plotting and analysis functions has slipped. Steps:

• [ ] Run tests/check_coverage to check current coverage
• [ ] Identify files with <80% test coverage, plus any other low-hanging fruit
• [ ] Write prioritized plan for increasing coverage
• [ ] Start writing tests (e.g., in test_other.py)
