Colours when using "ls" command? #8

Hi, Recently I finished reading "The Linux Command Line" and went all in on Linux. One of the chapters in the book is called "A gentle introduction to Vi". After reading it and looking at youtube videos I decided that I need to be using Vim. That is when I found your book.

Until I started reading your book I was using bash as my shell like a sucker. I changed to zsh and used your ".zshrc" config file to set everything up. The only problem I am having and am not able to work myself through is getting colours when using the "ls" command. It would make my life so much easier if the things were coloured differently when listed.

I am running Manjaro/XFCE and using Terminator as my terminal emulator.

Any chance you could shed some light on my problem?

Thank you, Ægir Æxx.

Heya,

It might be the OS and emulator that's the issue. I saw the following post...

https://forum.manjaro.org/t/dircolors-not-effective-anymore-in-terminator-after-last-update-in-xfce/16113

...which, although not directly related, suggests this has been something introduced recently.

I haven't used that combination so I'm afraid I couldn't say for sure but to double check the following link that runs through some options for ls colour setting...
