**ANSWER: _ISC funded some work in 2020 for live animal data interoperability that is similar in concept to this. It is already being used by some of the Australian software vendors who had input into it.

The live animal area is far more complex and more reason why we make sure it is included in this, no matter where the inputs are coming from. If we are going to build this thing, then let’s build it to be sustainable for the next 20, 30 years – not build it piecemeal. There are some rudimentary measures being done out there – hip height, frame scores, etc. Someone needs to sit down and do a very serious analysis of how we measure cattle and how we turn those into predictions to look at how they are going to perform to spec by compliance on the hook.

ANSWER: A lot of work has been done around standards for live animal recording, and people like MLA Sheep Genetics and ABRI are right across this. There is more work that could be done at the intersection of Meat Language (which defines some scores and measures) and the animal data specifications (which describe how scores can be transmitted).
