depth acquisition #3601

hello， I have a Realsense D435， I learn from the website that the D400 series uses Stereoscopic imaging based on left and right IR sensors to get the depth information of the object, what does this mean? I am very confused about it, the D435 has two infrared sensors, it uses these two infrared sensors to get depth, by get the pictures of the object and detect the features or by measuring the distance? Thank you very much
