International-Data-Spaces-Association / IDS-RAM_4_0

Focusing on the generalization of concepts, functionality, and overall processes involved in the creation of a secure 'network of trusted data' , the IDS-RAM resides at a higher abstraction level than common architecture models of concrete software solutions do. The document provides an overview and dedicated architecture specifications.

Relation of IDS Identities with other Identity Patterns #44

Open sebbader opened 2 years ago

sebbader commented 2 years ago

There is a discussion going on in the ThinkTank about the next generation of identities: https://github.com/International-Data-Spaces-Association/IDS-ThinkTank/issues/21 https://github.com/International-Data-Spaces-Association/IDS-ThinkTank/issues/25 https://github.com/International-Data-Spaces-Association/IDS-ThinkTank/issues/15 (and more that I may have missed). Furthermore, see: https://github.com/International-Data-Spaces-Association/IDS-ThinkTank/tree/main/ids-daps-vc and https://github.com/International-Data-Spaces-Association/IDS-ThinkTank/tree/main/ids-daps-federation

My proposal is to collect all discussions there, reach a mature state, and then move that state into the RAM.

We should discuss the identity concepts and trust models in general. VCs themselves do not solve this issue at all. We need to discuss:

We could try to take advantage from the work done in Gaia-X (page 23 ff.): https://gaia-x.eu/sites/default/files/2022-01/Gaia-X_Architecture_Document_2112.pdf

@gbrost and @gboege are you aware of any activities which continue the discussion here? If not, I would regard this issue as stale and close it therefore.

There is intensive work in context of DSBA Technical coherence in FIWARE.
