Preparation for release 4.2.0:

Merge changes (esp. Changelog addition + bugfixes) made in ci/december2021 back into develop.
Merge request Ci/december2021-consolidated into main follows.

Hi @PHochmann and @JohannesLipp, for the release 4.2.0 I remembered that we merge ci/december to main branch instead of develop branch. Because in the develop branch, we have all the latest updates which including the imported external classes which will cause trouble for the whole pipeline.

@changqin26 and I talked about this branch being safe to be merged into develop and deleted as new stable branch ci/june2022 has been created.
