Buried organic horizons present an issue when using data in synthesis efforts as they stand out as outliers with regards to carbon content and other chemical signatures. I added a new column at the layer level, "lyr_org_buried", that can be used to flag these buried horizons.
If this solution sounds good, then great, but if not just chime in here. If I don't hear anything in the next couple of weeks I'll go ahead and close this issue.
