The ships that need rescuing never despawn after the missions
They probably shouldn't 'despawn', instead salvage ships should jump in and start cutting that salvage to bits. The more salvage is present in the region the more likely some salvagers will come in.
Can be a whole gameplay loop there that allows getting components from remaining equipment, may be even with salvage rights - you killed it, unless it's near a populated region, it's yours and you can either sell the rights/info, salvage it or wait for an illegal scav to take the bait who is a fair game himself. In populated system you just get paid a bounty and salvage ships immediately come in.

The ships that need rescuing never despawn after the missions, so they'll slowly fill the system with ships.

Is it something that used to work before?
Didn't have this issue before because you'd just jump to the next sector.
Expected behavior
Stranded ships would despawn after a certain period of time after the mission was completed
Actual behavior
Ships stays in the system forever
Repro steps
Do a few rescue missions and come back and see the ship(s) are still there
