Could a bridging system be implemented for cables and pipes? Maybe make a two block system that are linked, so you can plug in a pipe and/or a cable into one end, and then come out the related block anywhere else, so you don't have cables spewn all over the deck. Make it expensive of course so that it's not just something you can freely or cheaply deploy. Make the player work for a cable/pipe bridge. If connected bridging blocks is more difficult than overlapping pipes, then could we just overlap with upgrades and depending on how many upgrades you research or purchase will dictate the number of cables you can overlap. Just thinking out loud as I'm typing.
