I have the exact same error, are you running the Sequoia beta?
Alright so I think I found a fix:
cd /Users/[youruser]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Call of Duty Black Ops III/BO3MacFix
sudo su
you will be prompted to enter your password./Install_BO3MacFix
Edit: Can confirm that this patch in fact works and I am able to run custom zombies
after applying fix and above solution the game takes alot of time to open, and i see alot of data read
before patch it was opening very fast
I'm not quite sure what the issue is here. I've only been able to replicate it once and I wasn't able to pin down what caused it. The only thing I can think of is do you have the Steam In-Game Overlay enabled?
In a Terminal, you can launch the game manually, which should work fine, since I know it's a bug with my "launcher":
cd "/Users/[youruser]/Library/Application Support/Steam/steamapps/common/Call of Duty Black Ops III/"
BO3MACFIX_NETWORKPASSWORD=[network password] DYLD_INSERT_LIBRARIES=./BO3MacFix/BO3MacFix.dylib ./CoDBlkOps3.app/Contents/MacOS/CoDBlkOps3_Exe
You can also try to double click the .app file in the game folder to launch without the Steam overlay, which may or may not fix the problem.
somehow the third launch was very fast using steam, i dont understand why
IIRC, I experienced this around the first or two times I started the game with the fix installed. My speculation about this is that installing the patch and running it for the first time prompts the system to verify the entire BO3 app. Who knows.

I do agree since I kept trying to run the game and it then launched three instances in the same time, So feels like they were all blocked by same process

That sounds very likely especially with the large disk usage. I'll see if I can have the installer bypass that process, it should already be clearing the quarantine value but I guess that isn't enough for every system. I'll also mention this in the FAQ so people don't think it's broken and that they just need to wait.
Out of curiosity is SIP enabled on your machines?

What is sip?

I usually keep it on, yes.

- Install it (Unnistall and Install if you already have it)
- Profit!!!

I had to do the same, but uninstalling while in su did not help. Had to first uninstall as a regular terminal user, then install in su, then it worked. Now it launches!
I'm on an M2 Pro running Mac OS 14.2.1 with the Steam beta version: (1724112952) if that helps. I use the Steam for Mac beta version because it has better controller support.

Im glad it could help you
I have tried the fixes listed here and my game just bounces on the dock and never runs. My install is on a SD card formated in Mac OS Extended (Journaled)

From experience, just wait for it to be validated since it takes a while based on your disk speed
After that it will launch instantly
I was able to fix this just like you said open it 2 times then it works. I did move it from my SD card to internal drive.

Even after following these steps I still have infinite loading for my bo3. As soon as i uninstall it runs fine. Installed as super su also. I’m running mac os sequoia 15.1 beta 4 so you reckon this may be the reason? I’m also using the steam beta version and I’m using a base m1 air.
LFG this is huge. I was a week away from buying a custom PC to play custom zombies and now I can play on my M3 MacBook, reinstalling BO3 now and will share if successful / if I need help
I can assure you it works. I have gotten every popular custom map to work, and online zombies works too. Just seems the install can be a bit hard depending on your os version. I am also on an M3.

Did you get the Call of the Dead remake to work? It never loads for me.

Hi Ian, I’ve honestly tried everything. Either it’s the beta software causing the problem or it doesn’t work with my ExFAT formatted usb3 hard drive. Maybe I have to keep steam overlay disabled perhaps? I’m not sure what to try anymore. When I uninstall the patch it starts up every time. After installing it just keeps loading in the dock forever. Do you think I should just do a backup and restore to 15.0 Sequoia or Sonoma and try again? Any advice on what you did to combat this issue if you had it?
I had mine install on a external drive and it never worked. I moved it back to my built in SSD and after 3 times trying to load doing the whole dock thing it worked. Now it opens without any issues.

Oh right that makes sense I have it on an external hard drive formatted as exFAT. I don’t have enough internal storage to run bo3 locally unfortunately though. Would an SD Card work?
I think if it’s the right format. Mine was on a SD card but I only tried to open it twice which was the issue I think.Sent from my iPhoneOn Sep 20, 2024, at 8:41 PM, KillerMrSingh @.***> wrote:

Hi, I updated to the latest version of mac os, steam beta before I tried this. Installed the patch as SU. launched bo3 and let it sit on the dock loading and every hour I restarted the game.
After the 4th try it launched and managed to fix all my launch bug issues. Not sure what causes the launch bug but it was much worse than other peoples experience presumably because I have it on an external harddrive so took even longer, but once it started working it will worked with no issues after this and have successfully been able to play custom maps with PC steam players with no issues on my base m1 air.
Controller support working also for my Razer Raiju controller. Harddrives do work make sure they are formatted properly (mine was exFAT).
Just to reiterate what worked for me: 1.) Install patch as SU as shown by Exzh34. 2.)Launch executable either from finder/terminal or through steam. 3.)If it hangs and sits in the dock let it sit there for 30 mins then close (or force close) and reopen. 4.)Repeat step 3 until it launches.

Im having the same issue, but very other map seems to be working fine after all the fixes you guys mentioned. Anyone gotten COTD to work?

I tried this, and even though I put the BO3MacFix file in call of duty bo3 file, I cant find the file for the fix. Is there anything I can do? im not sure if it just doesn't work for Sequoia, or perhaps something else. Id appreciate it if someone could make a video on how to install it, so I could follow properly. I currently also have whisky on my laptop, but ran the executable on cod2map through wine stable, due to me installing it through home-brew. When I launch, the icon bounces and doesn't launch.
Hello,
I followed the instructions to install the patch/fix, but after doing so, I encountered an issue where the game no longer launches. Specifically, when I attempt to start the game, the application icon begins bouncing in the dock but then disappears without opening any windows. The game functions normally again once I uninstall the patch.
I’m eager to resolve this issue so I can enjoy the multiplayer features.
Thank you for your assistance.
Best regards, Nikolai⬤
