Move release history into changelog from the cabal file #42

Closed nurpax closed 10 years ago

The cabal file based release history eats up almost a full browser window of space on the direct-sqlite Hackage page. Rather than keeping this long history on the main package page, move it into a separate changelog file. Hackage will automatically link to this changelog file, so that those who're interested in it, can view it easily without checking out the package contents.

@IreneKnapp PING :)

Oh! Thanks. I think I need to fix my notification settings, since I got an email for the ping but I don't think I did for the PR itself (although, yes, I see that it was four months ago). Give me a moment. :)

@nurpax Done.

Thank you for the ping, and I have fixed my notification settings now. This is embarrassing, but it seems that in the murky past, I had used "watch" instead of "star" for a lot of other people's repositories. That gave me the notion that email notifications on watched repos were too spammy, so I turned them off. So I had to go through and star and un-watch each of them individually, then turn that setting back on. :)

And unless you request it, I'm not intending to release to Hackage for this change alone, since it doesn't touch code - in fact, I think it might violate the package versioning policy to do so. :)

Quite understandable and I also often suffer from aggressive email filters :)

No problem to release this later when you have some real changes to release with. Makes sense to hold off.
