[FEATURE REQUEST] Importing wishlist text / JSON files #1090

Open h3oCharles opened 3 years ago

h3oCharles commented 3 years ago

Current Behavior (if any)

currently, i can only export wishlists. if i were to empty out my wishlist, make a temporary one to write down some statistics, i can't go back to the previous one

Desired Behavior

add a import wishlist button to take text or json files to it, and in return it'll call steam api to add the games in the list to the wishlist, bonus points if they are in the exported order

Motivation / Use Case for Changing the Behavior

one motivation i have is i wanted to see how much in my local currency (PLN in this case) would cost all jackbox party packs (1-7 at the time of writing this) and drawful 2, to try to get a group of friends to get a shared steam account with those games, and to fund that goal financially

One thing to note, removed games/apps from the steam store may be in your wishlist that can no longer be added back, after removing.

I'd be interested in this as well, as long as you can control the order in which items are added when imported. My use case would be to export and import my wishlist just to be able to reorder it, since changing the position of one specific game in the wishlist (such as bringing it to the top) is simply impossible once you have a wishlist with hundreds or even thousands of games in it (it bugs out when trying to load the wishlist, and if you use a filter the controls to assign a new order number to the game disappear).

About reordering, this may help you in the meantime: https://www.steamgifts.com/discussion/iCZHB/guide-sort-your-steam-wishlist-ranked-order-by-price-wishlist-demand-titles-etc

I also would very much like this feature request. I wish to export my wishlist to either file format, then take that export file to a friend's PC so I can help them import my wishlist to their steam account (via AugmentedSteam) as a "merge" (will not delete any of their existing wishlist items, and avoid duplicate entries where we both already had an item in both lists).

As a side benefit, this feature would also be handy for the peace of mind of doing a periodic "backup" export of my wishlist with the understanding that I could rely on the ability to re-import the backup in case my wishlist ever got "messed up" for any reason.

I wish this feature existed, too. My wishlist was somehow completely scrambled when it hung and I refreshed during a sort. It would be extremely helpful to have useable backups.

I'm sure Valve would love 7K+ wishlist queries on their servers/API every time I do a restore. /s
