[FEATURE REQUEST] Add a sorting Feature (preferably by Date) to the points shop #1108

Current Behavior (if any)

Steam Points shop currently has no way to sort the items inside of the actual shop, making viewing the new things added from games a hassle, as all the sorting is usually based off Popular with no way to change it.

Desired Behavior

Being unable to sort by new makes it annoying as all hell to find new stuff within the points shop, especially when desirable things like avatar borders and animated emotes are added with no notification unless you're checking and memorizing daily. I would like to see a sorting function be added to be able to sort things in the point shop by when they were added, instead of popularity. I dont know if any other sorting options would be available, but the more the merrier. Sorting by New/Date would be most desirable though.

Motivation / Use Case for Changing the Behavior

It would allow for keeping up with and browsing the entire points store more enjoyable as there would be no need to sift through all the stuff you already have, as well as the other things you don't care about inside the points store. Would be very easy to keep up with everything in there as well. No more Dota 2 Icons clogging the entire page.

I dug a bit into it, seems like there is a so called definition ID associated to every item. You can retrieve this when you click on an item and use the "Copy to keyboard" function. The last part of the URL is this ID

Does this mean that this is a feasible feature to implement? If so i'd be very hyped to see it and be able to browse by New and get the newest stuff, or atleast see it!

I forgot to mention that those IDs may just be a counter value, so an ordering by date could be possible. The problem is that we need the whole set of items to create an order, which could get expensive. Though we're already doing this for review sorting.

On which point shop pages would you like to see the sorting options?

I suppose it was unrealistic to hope for it on the popular page or just a page that shows all items in a category....i dont really know persay. I care most about avatar borders and emoticons personally, but it would nice to have on avatars, and mini backgrounds as well. Im not too versed in coding or handling this so i cant say how much without sounding greedy or dumb.

I only see avatar & background pages that can show everything. Stickers & emoticons I can only see most popular pages, unless they also show everything but sorted by popularity. Chat effects I only see 4 items.

As I see it, it's totally doable fetching all pages before sorting, except for still profile backgrounds, since that category has thousands of items.

Ah of course, id only want it for the points store exclusive stuff (animated avis and emotes, animated backgrounds and mini backgrounds, avatar borders, and anything else points store exclusive.) Cuz otherwise searching the community market works
