Hosea lacks any Strong's numbers markup #16

Open DavidHaslam opened 4 years ago

DavidHaslam commented 4 years ago

The recently added book of Hosea is currently without any Strong's numbers markup.

@lemtom How soon might these be added?

lemtom commented 4 years ago

I do not have any Strong's number sources for Hosea. Only transChanges were noted.

DavidHaslam commented 4 years ago

@lemtom

What source was used for the Strong's numbers in the other 65 books of the base text ?

lemtom commented 4 years ago

The same verse-per-line source. I haven't been able to get in touch again to ask why they are missing for this book specifically.

cf. I see that Hosea also lacks Strong's in this online study Bible.

If Strong's were never added to Hosea by anyone working on the Dutch STV text, that might account for the situation.

Were that to be confirmed by further investigation, then perhaps we need to enlist the help of one or more of the Biblical scholars such as those at Tyndale House, Cambridge?

If it might be of any help, I have just used diatheke to output the book of Hosea from the KJV module with Strong's numbers specified as the output option.

KJV.Hosea.diatheke.strong.txt

Notes:

  1. I manually removed the 19 extra EOLs that correspond to where there is a Pilcrow sign at the start of a verse.
  2. In the KJV module all the Strong's Hebrew numbers have a leading 0.
  3. The diatheke format does not show where each w element in the OSIS source begins.
It merely outputs each <Hnumber> (or multiple) after the word[s] thus tagged.
  4. I have the full KJV source text in OSIS format should there be any queries about where any w element starts.
  5. Module OSHB has the WLC Hebrew text with Strong's Numbers and Morphological tags.
  6. Module hboWLCeb available from eBible.org also has the WLC Hebrew text with Strong's Numbers and Morphological tags.
This repository is included by the SWORD module manager as part of the Master Repository List.
  7. A number of other SWORD modules in other major languages also have Feature=StrongsNumbers.
These might be useful for further comparison.

Here's the Hebrew text of Hosea from the OSHB module (version 1.4) output using diatheke with the same option.

OSHB.Hosea.diatheke.strong.txt

NB. The module may be a little out of date compared to the text maintained by the Open Scriptures project.
