Meta-Issue: Accessibility

This is a meta issue to track other issues related to accessibility. Enabling Islandora to be used by all is a major goal of the project and part of Islandora 8 Roadmap priorities. In addition, most jurisdictions in Canada, US and EU mandate that web applications meet Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.0 AA standards or equivalent standards.

While Drupal 8 provides good base accessibility support, additional modules and features provided by Islandora 8 need to support accessibility as well.

It would be good to be able to automatically propagate the alt text on Original File to Service File and Thumbnail derivatives.

@dannylamb WAVE Web Accessibility Tool - WebAIM is a good tool to evaluate accessibility. It has a FF and Chrome plugin as well as a web UI: http://wave.webaim.org/report#/future.islandora.ca.

Another good tool is ChromeVox to highlight tab ordering. Although it is a screen reader, it is more useful to test tab ordering.
