The state of OSTW - Looking for maintainers #505

Open CactusPuppy opened 4 months ago

CactusPuppy commented 4 months ago

As of time of writing, Overwatch Script To Workshop currently does not have any active maintainers. If anyone would be interested in assisting with maintenance of OSTW, please contact me on Discord via the Workshop.codes Discord.

For those of you unfamiliar with my relation to this project, I have been assisting Deltin in keeping the project up-to-date with the latest versions of Overwatch since before May 2023 (I didn't bother checking the exact date). However, Season 11 broke many things in the Workshop, and essentially destroyed all remaining motivation I had to stay involved with the Overwatch Workshop community. As a result, I am no longer going to be keeping OSTW up-to-date.

Thanks for your understanding.

I know there's a variety of things that have broken, is there any available TL;DR for S11 breaking changes?

I know nothing about the internals of the OSTW at this time, but would be open to maybe picking up smaller stuff depending on time commitments.

You can find one of the biggest breakages just by opening a new custom game lobby, copying the settings, and then trying to paste those settings back into the game. Basically, so far as I can tell, at some point Blizzard managed to make duplicate versions of all the core gamemodes for April Fools and the Creator Patch, which causes any attempt to paste a text version of the custom game settings to fail since those gamemodes do not accept the typical set of game mode settings that the true base modes support.

yeahhh, that's definitely something I've noticed myself. Besides that is there any other major breaking items besides just generic bugs?

Considering there's a ton of generic bugs, I wouldn't dismiss that part so quickly, but otherwise, there is a maintained list on Workshop.codes on this wiki page
