Hmm... I feel like the period is correct, considering it marks the end of the sentence started before the list:

Your best bet is either to Download from GitHub releases or Download on the Mac App Store.

I agree that it looks strange, so I'm open to maybe changing it?

I can see that, but seems weird to be on its own line no? If it's supposed to read as a sentence, then I think removing the bullets would make more sense.
