Can't find gui_bin folder #45

Open bengeraldsmith97 opened 3 years ago

bengeraldsmith97 commented 3 years ago

Firstly, I'd like to apologize for having zero experience on github and with coding.

I had successfully downloaded MULTEM in the past month or so, and I had been using the gui. However after a while (and probably due to something I had done) I could no longer get the matlab files to cooperate and so I thought it would be sensible to delete everything and download it again.

After deleting multem, I now cannot seem to successfully reinstall it, specifically I cannot find the 'gui_bin' folder anywhere, nor the multem.exe file.

Any help and advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Ben

Hi Ben, there have been a few updates lately that were not yet added to the GUI version. For that reason, there was no precompiled GUI version in the last release. You can find the GUI binaries still in the previous Release here: https://github.com/Ivanlh20/MULTEM/releases/tag/v2.2.1 There were no major changes on the C++ code, so I'm guessing v2.2.1 should work for you just as well. If you're using GUI only then there is no need for Matlab. If you're using Matlab, there is no need to have the GUI-binaries, and you should be fine running the examples with the precompiled mex-functions(Windows only) provided with the Release.

I hope that helps. Thomas

Hi Thomas,

Happy New Year and thanks for your helpful reply.

I used the link you sent me. There it says:

'Execute vc_redist.x64.exe located in gui_bin folder'

However, when I download the MULTEM-2.2.1 folder there is no gui_bin folder nor vc_redist.x64.exe file to be found.

This does highlight my complete ineptitude with computers, but is the correct way to download the files to simply click the 'Source code (zip)' link at the bottom of the page you sent me?

Thanks very much for your time, Ben
