Absurt max speed on GPX import from RunKeeper #556

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Record a track with Runkeeper.
2. Export from Runkeeper as GPX.
3. Import into My Tracks.

What is the expected output?

A max speed around 15 km/h

What do you see instead?

A max speed of 37.14 km/h

What version of MyTracks are you using? On what version of Android? On what
phone?

MyTracks: 1.1.9
Firmware: 2.1-update1
Phone: Xperia X10 Mini

Please provide any additional information here:

Everything else seems to have imported just fine. Average speed 10.23 km/h,
total time 38.28 min, total distance 6.56 km. The speed-time graph is also
reasonable. I haven't checked if this occurs with other RunKeeper files or
other GPX files -- this could be a RunKeeper problem.

I'm attaching the exported GPX file.

My Tracks calculates max speed based on GPS reported speed. Unfortunately, GPX
format doesn't include GPS reported speed. Thus we need to estimate max speed
based on distance and time between two points, which can be inaccurate.
