Irregular wavelength sampling in spectra #4

Open chriswillott opened 6 years ago

chriswillott commented 6 years ago

In the v1.1 mock spectra in the region from 1 to 1.6 microns the wavelength sampling is uneven, e.g.

"10000.

Values ending in 50 would make the wavelength grid regular. This is important because even low resolution spectra (R~150) cannot be accurately simulated at this resolution, particularly important for near-IR emission lines.

Below is a plot of resolution vs rest-frame wavelength (resolution here is defined as wave/delta_wave). I also note Lyman alpha in very high-z objects would have a similar problem.

Thank you for writing out the issue @chriswillott! Jacopo has been working on separating the continuum spectrum from the lines and now this has been implemented we should be able to add the lines separately with additional wavelength points around said emission lines. Time scale ~2-3 weeks until we can supply the corrected spectra.
