Need to add -ggdb to complers when compiling with gcc on non-MacOS hardware for the Debug build #1473

Description

When compiling with gcc the flags -g -ggdb should be added to compiler flags fror the debugging.

Dependencies

There are no dependencies. This will be added to other repos independently.
