Assistance with NCEPLIBS install #1242

Good afternoon,

I have a ServiceNow nceplibs_install_error2.txt ticket to install NCEPLIBS for OPC. I was given the following page of where the libs can be found: https://github.com/NOAA-EMC/NCEPLIBS?tab=readme-ov-file.

The user wants it installed in a shared location and available to compilers. I attempted to follow these instructions to install but was unsuccessful.

git clone https://github.com/spack/spack . spack/share/spack/setup-env.sh # assuming bash, zsh, or dash shell spack external find cmake gmake # find external packages to save time spack install ip spack load ip

See the attached file for the errors.

Because we are not familiar with NCEPLIBS and how they are installed/used, can you please provide us some assistance it getting the NCEPLIBS available to the user?

Since you started with vanilla spack installing package ip, I am wondering if this issue belongs into the ip github repo or the spack repo?

I responded two weeks ago (see above) and didn't hear back from you.

I am not sure this is the right place to ask if you are doing pure spack installs (as opposed to spack-stack) of the NCEPLIBS. This is either a question in the spack repository https://github.com/spack/spack or in the NCEPLIBS repositories at EMC?

I wasn't sure if that was a question for me as I have absolutely no knowledge of NCEPLIBS or the actual installation process. I was instructed by Jacob Carley to submit a ticket to https://github.com/JCSDA/spack-stack/issues for assistance on how to install.

Hi Michelle-- Why don't we pick up this conversation on the NCEPLIBS repository (https://github.com/NOAA-EMC/NCEPLIBS/issues) and close this issue since it's not directly related to spack-stack. Looking at the output, it may or may not be an issue with Spack itself, but we can help you diagnose that. It might be as simple as a configuration issue with the compilers since it looks like it's failing when it tries to create test executables.
