2020 Emissions data

Due to the special circumstances there is high interest in 2020 data in the next PRIMAP-hist release. As for other years we have to mostly rely on third party data.

So far the following options have been identified:

CO2

• BP2021: Data for all countries after downscaling. As BP data relies on production and trade it is unclear how accurate the data will be under the special circumstances (e.g. because of changes in stored fuels)
• GCP: the Global Carbon Project has dome estimates on 2020 CO2 emissions from different sectors.
• carbonmonitor: carbonmonitor has estimates of CO2 emissions from 2020 for several sectors and countries.

Due to a lack of input data and time 2020 will not be included in the v2.3 release.

The 2022 PRIMAP-hist release will contain data for 2021. The reduced time-lag will be sustained in the future and releases in year x will contain data for year x-1
