Hi, are you able to confirm whether the data can be used for commercial purposes please? Thank you.

The dataset on zenodo is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International, which generally does not have any restrictions by type of use, as long as you comply with all the other obligations under the licence.

Depending on your jurisdiction, there might be separate database rights for the producers of sources of PRIMAP-hist or PRIMAP-hist might be considered a derived work of (some of) the sources or other rights might apply regarding the sources of PRIMAP-hist. Please check the relevant laws and licences of the sources listed on the description page on zenodo and consult your lawyer, we can't give you guidance on that.

Why would that matter? If there were other applicable rights they should be reflected in the licensing of the PRIMAP-hist dataset, wouldn't they? I haven't checked the sources of the latest version but last time i checked all sources were either CC-BY themselves, or had some free to use terms or were only used in an indirect manner (like trend calculation/extension) where it's debatable whether that's still the same data i guess.

…which depends on the jurisdiction and is not our job to figure out, but the job of some lawyers. I can confirm we are fine with using the data for commercial purposes, but we are not indemnifying users against all other Copyright holders or anything like that.
