As biodiversity wikimedia advocates trying to close the gender gap in the sciences, we want to present at IBC Madrid 2024 on our work "Amplifying the contribution of women to botany: an analysis of plant genera that were named after women" so that women's contributions to botany are recognized and celebrated.

This presentation was to be given by our co-author Carmen Ulloa. She based her slide deck on other presentations given by a variety of members of the group and then adapted those presentations for the IBC audience. Prior to the conference both Carmen and I gave feedback on the proposed presentation. Unfortunately Carmen fell ill and so asked Sabine and I to step in and present on her behalf. We met for about an hour and a half prior to the symposium, adapted Carmen's script to our speech patterns, dividing the presentation into portions for each of us to present, and then practised the presentation. Despite the short notice we managed to successfully present on our work.
