The following tasks need to be completed at some point:

[ ] Replace all function-like macros with templated versions
[ ] Fix all errors when compiling with -fpermissive
[ ] Remove all usages of float* as a vector type
[ ] Remove all pointer input parameters, replace with safe reference types
[ ] Fix weird C-isms
