This is just an issue with aliasing, as the STEM pixel moves, the grid defining the potentials move. The aliasing of this grid leads to the artefacts.
I think I have resolved this by snapping the potentials grid to the same grid for all STEM pixels
For non-parallel StEM configurations, the moving potentials create aliasing issues that create a pattern in the resulting STEM image. Particularly prevalent when the STEM pixel size is smaller than the potential image pixel size.
