Paper submission to the Journal of Open Source Software #16

After our package and the documentation will be finished, we will publish this development to the Journal of Open Source Software. Please check the submission instructions. I am providing two examples that are related, in some way, with the bestiapop functionality. rnassqs allows users to download crop data and it got several comments from the reviewers and the documentation is more in detail. On the other hand, you have weathercan which is completely related with bestiapop and has a short paper and only a few reviewer comments.

1- rnassqs: An R package to access agricultural data via the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (USDA-NASS) 'Quick Stats' API paper and review

2- weathercan: Download and format weather data from Environment and Climate Change Canada paper and review

Please check the reviewer comments in both cases, there are a lot of key points highlighted by the reviewers that we should carefully consider before submission. You can also explore additional published papers and codes here

I have created the first draft for the paper. Check bestiapop/docs/paper/paper.md. You can decide what to include in the section 'Bestiapop functionality'. Please also check how to include references and footnotes. I am not sure it is right in the current form. Please comment, suggest and add anything you consider important for the paper.

hi @JJguri is this still required?

@darkquasar considering the advances we had with the package I decided to submit the paper in another journal. You can close this issue although please leave the paper.md because I will use it for the paper anyways.
